journey with jesus
Discipleship is understood as corporate and individual apprenticeship in the way of Jesus. Apprenticeship in the way of Jesus involves being found in and formed into the image of Christ to the glory of God through the faithful interplay of the following elements: Word-Centered Life, Prayer-Filled Life, Witnessing Life, Worshiping Life, and a Generous Life.
And He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of people.” – Matthew 4:19NASB
Word-Centered Life
Growing in a love for and understanding of the Bible through faithful preaching and teaching, reading, reflection, and dialogue with others about the Gospel in and outside the Harderwyk community.
Key Verses: So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Living out one’s Christ following in word and deed, including developing an increasing desire and ability to share one’s story and the Story of the Gospel with others while cultivating hospitable environments that encourage spiritual conversations.

Luke 10:1-2 NIV
GENEROUS Life
Open-handedly offering the time, energy, gifts, passions, and resources God entrusted to us in ways that reflect the generosity of Jesus who gave of Himself freely, sacrificially, and joyfully for us.
Key Verses: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
John 3:16-17 NIV
Prayer-Filled Life
Cultivating a life of personal and communal prayer that creates space for us to talk with God, listen to God and be with God.
Key Verse: But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. Luke 5:16 NIV
Worshiping Life
Honoring and glorifying God in the ordinary moments of life and in the regular gathering of God’s people.
Key Verse: Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.
