Short-Term Missions

Harderwyk Ministries also provides financial support to those individuals participating in various short-term mission trips throughout the year.  In 2007, various individuals from all Harderwyk Worshipping Communities served in both "freshwater" (home) mission sites as well as "saltwater" (foreign) mission sites:

  • Roseland, Chicago - Four different groups - SERVE projects (physical labor as well as preparing food boxes.

  • Mississippi - Harderwyk Ministries and a team of five individuals partnered with Christian Reformed World Relief Committee (CRWRC) and the Holland Deacons Conference, providing both physical labor and funds necessary to build a new home for a couple whose home was damaged beyond repair by Hurricane Katrina.

  • Dominican Republic - Two teams (October and December) built two duplexes in Batey Fao, a tiny impoverished community which was part of a serious racial incident in 2005, leaving twenty families without homes.  Each duplex alone costs $9,500, bringing the total cost per trip to approximately $17,000.  Brochure

  • SERVE Project - Ty Hogue continues to provide this opportunity, challenging middle school students to give up a week of their summer vacation to work in and serve the greater Holland Community.
Community Transformation continues to unfold, both in members of Harderwyk Ministries, and also in the communities in which we are called to serve.  Relationships continue to strengthen and bonds are made stronger.  Funding for these mission projects is provided purely by faith-promise giving, personal out-of-pocket expenses and fundraising.  Missions are not part of the day-to-day operating budget of Harderwyk Ministries.
